1. Introduction

PDFiTools ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our website. We operate on a principle of Data Minimization: we only collect what is absolutely necessary to provide the functionality of file conversion.

2. Data We Process (GDPR & CCPA)

  • Uploaded Files: Files you upload are processed solely for the purpose of conversion. They are stored on secure servers for a limited time (max 1 hour) to allow you to download the result, after which they are permanently deleted. We do not open, read, or mine data from your files.
  • Usage Data: We may collect anonymous metrics (e.g., browser type, conversion type) to improve system performance. This data is not linked to your personal identity.
  • LocalStorage: We store your preferences (e.g., language, dark mode) locally on your device.

3. Data Retention Policy

We implement a strict auto-deletion policy.
Input Files: Deleted immediately after processing or within 1 hour.
Output Files: Deleted after 1 hour or when you manually delete them via the "History" panel.
We do NOT retain backups of your user content. Once deleted, it is unrecoverable.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We use trusted third-party infrastructure (e.g., Cloudflare R2, AWS, or Vercel) to host our services. These providers are bound by strict data processing agreements and security standards. We do NOT sell, trade, or rent your personal identification information to others.

5. Your Rights

Under GDPR (Europe) and CCPA (California), you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. Since we do not store user accounts or persistent personal data for non-logged-in users, simply clearing your browser cache and ceasing use of the site effectively removes your client-side footprint. Your server-side files are automatically purged.

6. Google API Limited Use Disclosure

PDFiTools' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page.
